Voted for Seafood World A
Great Seafood Restaurant & Caterer
Delicious fresh seafood in a casual setting in Lighthouse Point. You enter the restaurant through the "market," which is also one of several dining rooms. On display in the market are fresh local fish, lobsters, stone crabs, conch, oysters and other seafood as well as their proprietary dips, spreads, and salads - all of which are available on the dinner menu. Be sure to check the nightly specials. I especially recommend the Mussels Dijon and the Snapper Francaise. Conch fritters are full of meat - not just breading like so many others. Seafood World catered my father-in-law's birthday party this year, which was a large, busy outside affair. The staff was very professional and attentive throughout the planning, set-up and dinner. And the food was delicious.

Taste of the islands!
I only had a chance to hang out in the bar, but Mai Kai was super fun! Apparently they have a whole dinner show with polynesian dancers and drumming and all kinds of island/luau stuff.
The venue is VERY themed, but I think that's a big part of its charm - the girls are dressed in bikini tops and skirts so that's a bonus for the gentlemen! ;) And the service could be considered slow (guess they're on island time) but we were happy to hang out so it worked out perfectly. They have a ton of fun and creative drinks to choose from and the apps that we had were delicious! They are however on the smaller end of the scale (portion-wise) so you may need to order a few. All in all a super fun time - perfect for taking out of towners (like me)!

Fort Lauderdale Must!
A local friend took us to Aruba when I was visiting Fort Lauderdale and it was so much fun! It's right on the water, which gave it a very vacationy feel and the vibe was really good. There was live music when we arrived and we sat along the edge of their outdoor patio for some late night eats.
The food was delicious - per the recommendation of my friend, I had the seafood chowder. Although, I have to warn you, it's not really a chowder, but reminded me more of a cioppino and it was a huge serving (but no complaints here)! Also had some fried conch, also tasty, and all in all had a wonderful time. I recommend this place for any visitors (or I suppose any locals as well) if you're in the area!

Voted for Le Bistro
Fantastic little bistro tucked away in a strip mall on Federal Highway. Great mix of standard bistro fare and chef creativity. Can't miss with appetizers like steamed mussels, charcuterie or bee pollen crusted goat cheese (lavender, endive, honey, almonds white truffle oil). For entrees, the steaks and fish (esp. the snapper) are terrific. Last visit, I tried the steak special, a filet mignon with foie gras and bordelaise - rich, decadent, delicious.

Outstanding pediatric dentistry practice. Dr. Oana Romasan and her staff have an approach that immediately put my 2 year old at ease for his first trip to the dentist. I have my challenges just brushing his teeth, but Dr. Oana's kind and playful manner got him to sit still while she gave him a full exam and then brushed and flossed his teeth. No fussing, no crying, no wriggling off the chair.

Voted for 15th Street Fisheries
This review is for the Dockside Cafe (there is also an indoor dining room upstairs with a larger menu). Located in the Lauderdale Marina, the 15th Street Fisheries cafe sits right along the water, where you can watch the boats and yachts travel up and down the intracoastal - and feed the giant tarpon. Start with peel & eat shrimp, conch fritters, Louisiana Bayou Fried Alligator (for the novelty) or the Bahamian conch chowder. Then I highly recommend either the lobster roll or "Joe's Sizzler Skillet" - shrimp, fish, scallops, tomatoes, and artichoke hearts, served on a sizzling platter with a creamy wine sauce.

Voted for Sozo Sushi Bar
Terrific family-owned and run neighborhood sushi restaurant. Small and intimate, Sozo also has a hip vibe. But more importantly, the food is thoughtfully prepapared and delicious. Fresh sushi by the piece and tasty rolls that are creative, but don't overpower the great fish. Be sure to start with their flavorful, refreshing ceviche and delicious spicy seafood soup.

Voted for J Alexanders
This is a better-than-average chain restaurant for "Contemporary American" food. Similar to Houston's, it doesn't quite match its competitor's quality or customer service. Although it is cheaper. My waiter was a bit too chummy upon introducing himself and then was mostly MIA for the remainder of the meal. BBQ Danish baby back ribs were very tasty. Oddly though, they came in 2 half-racks, one of which was very charred and a bit dry and the other falling off the bone meaty and moist. The Tequila Beans were excellent - flavorful and spicy with some heat.

Voted for Laspadas Original Hoagies
Hoagies the way they're supposed to be made: big, lots of fresh ingredients, tasty bread. Served up by a fun assembly line - an entertaining show while your hoagie is being made. Try the Italian.

Voted for Aruba Beach Cafe
Fun, busy ocean-front restaurant with live music at the end of Commercial Blvd. Doors and windows usually open to let in fresh ocean breeze - along with sounds and scents. Great place for a blackened fish sandwich and draft beer. Also, try the Florida Seafood Soup.
